Erectile dysfunction medications seized in Glengormley

Large quantities of unlicensed medicines have been seized by Department of Health officials during a search of a home in Glengormley.

A male was spoken with by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medications through the internet.

The 47-year-old was likewise questioned about other medication offenses.

He will now be the topic of a report to the Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is essential that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be unsafe.

"These types of items being offered, generally online, have undergone no quality assurance and there can be no warranty about their safety.

"You just do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More importantly, you do not understand the effect drugs like this may have on your health."
